Talked about comparative ages of the rocks occurring in this general area (ie what if you dug down?):

• Quaternary = ‘recent’ : 2 million years ago untill today
• Tertiary (basalt)
• Jurassic (dolerite intrusions widespread)
• Triassic (sandstone)
• Permian (dropstones, the Great Uncomformity, early reptiles)
• all older rocks below = ‘basement’, then Earth’s Mantle
