Weather :

Fine and sunny. warm! slight haze over river possibly smoke haze from fires

mid-tine and low swell. Water level half metre below main rock platform.

Sounds:

children trying to catch crabs. Water intermittent gurgling under edge of rock platform.

“drop stones” and then fracturing

Looking back to Kingston Beach and Kunanyi/Mt Wellington vertical iron ribs protruding

• no sign of crayfish shells today
• casuarinas draping over
• stong grid pattern of seams and cracks in the rock platform.
• On closer inspectionthere were lots of “rusty” hollow dropstones that likely fell to the ocean floor from melting glaciers off Pangea.

We met in front of the sailing club. Bit of a slow start because of tricky parking and so many people other people being at the beach. Combination of teachers’ strike and beautiful warm weather.
